Girls basketball: Columbia River 52, Fort Vancouver 12

One year after finishing last in the 3A Greater St. Helens League, the Chieftains clinched a tie for second place by beating Fort.

Columbia River won a coin flip against Kelso on Tuesday. As the No. 2 seed, the Chieftains will play Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s Kelso-Mountain View game.

River outscored Fort 18-0 in the first quarter. Teaghan Cowles led all scorers with 14 points.
