The 2A Greater St. Helens League boys basketball standings shook when Washougal knocked off the first place team and climbed out of the cellar.

Austin Tran made all eight of his foul shots in the fourth quarter to help the Panthers put the finishing touches on a 52-48 victory against Mark Morris Feb. 4, at Washougal High School. Jake Weis, Patrick Jones and Noah Prangley also weaved clutch baskets for Washougal during those final eight minutes of the game.

“We played tough physically and mentally, and pulled this game out against the seventh ranked team in the state,” said head coach Malcolm Estes.

Tran led the attack with 15 points. Jones scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Prangley added nine points and 10 rebounds. Weis netted nine points.

Yorro Bah, Ryan Taylor, David Wallace and Spencer Adams also contributed to the victory. Wallace, Weis and Bah dished out three assists. Weis and Bah both had two assists.

The win moved Washougal (2-4) up to fourth place in league. The Panthers trail R.A. Long (3-3) for third place by one game. Only the top three teams advance to the playoffs.

Washougal hosts R.A. Long tonight and plays at Hockinson Wednesday. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
