Hot shooting down the stretch helped the Clark College’s men’s basketball team thaw out from a snow-related layoff.
The Penguins beat Tacoma 70-57 on the road after not practicing for six days due to the snow in Vancouver.
“We definitely showed signs of rust,” Clark coach Alix Kirk said.
But Clark got a spark from Max Livingston. He made six 3-pointers, including a few late in the game to help Clark pull away.
“You could see the energy go out of the gym when he made those,” Kirk said.
Livingston and Sean Price each had 20 points as Clark (19-1, 11-0) clinched an NWAACC playoff spot.
Women’s basketball: Clark 80, Tacoma 42
Nicolette Bond scored 21 points as the Clark women beat Tacoma.
SirRenahdi Battle added 15 points and as the Penguins clinched their fifth consecutive NWAACC playoff bid.
Clark coach Al Aldridge called it a good bounce-back game from last week’s loss to Lower Columbia.
“We played hard. We played fast. It’s nice to get back on the winning track, and doing it the right way by playing good defense,” Aldridge said.
Aldridge said one area the effort showed was in improved rebounding after halftime. The coach was also pleased that his team hit 25 of 30 free throws.
Clark (18-3, 10-1) is tied with Lower Columbia atop the NWAACC West Division.
