Fire crews clean up after a two-alarm apartment fire in the Ogden area damaged at least four units.
A two-alarm fire caused major damage to an apartment complex in the Ogden neighborhood this morning.
The Vancouver Fire Department fought the fire at the Royal Crest Town Homes, 2802 N.E. 86th Ave., near Burton Road. It was reported shortly after 7 a.m.
A neighbor, Derrick Wimberley, discovered the fire and ran door-to-door, warning neighbors. An 86-year-old woman living in one of the units was evacuated as firefighters arrived.
The fire burned through the roof of the two-story building, and four apartments in the burning building were damaged.

Firefighters cut holes in the ends of the building to ventilate the fire, which spread throughout the attic. The fire was knocked down by about 8 a.m.
It was 23 degrees in Vancouver as the fire raged, and winds were blowing nearly 20 mph, making the fire more difficult to fight.
“There’s a lot of ice building up, it’s pretty treacherous,” Battalion Chief Rick Steele said. “When guys work in these conditions, they get cold and they wear out faster.”
Rehab units stood by to hydrate the crews and warm them back up so they could continue their work, Steele said.
The American Red Cross was called to assist residents who were displaced.
Multiple engines from the Vancouver Fire Department responded, with crews from Clark County Fire District 6 assisting at the scene. Several blocks of Northeast 86th Avenue at Burton Road were closed so crews could work.
