OLYMPIA — Ten more “free” days are scheduled at Washington State Parks.
Free days are when the requirement to have a $10 one-day or $30 annual Discover Pass is waived.
The 10 remaining free days are: March 19, April 19, April 22, May 11, June 7-8, June 14, Aug. 25, Sept. 27 and Nov. 11.
Legislation creating the Discover Pass allows for a dozen free days. The first two were Jan. 19 and 20.
OLYMPIA — Applications are being accepted through Feb. 14 from fishing gear manufacturers and retailers to serve on an inland fisheries advisory group to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
As many as 15 individuals will be chosen to serve for 2014 and 2015.
Chris Donley, inland fish program manager, said applicants with an understanding of species such as trout, walleye, bass and panfish are being sought.
Members will meet quarterly to share ideas and develop partnerships to increase interest in inland fisheries. Applicants should be decision makers at the business, such as a general managers, presidents, marketing directors or chief executive officers.
Applications need to include the applicant’s name, address, telephone number, email address, relevant experience, reasons for wanting to serve, effectiveness in marketing to anglers and potential anglers and the name and contact information for any individual or organization submitting an application.

OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has added a new feature to its website entitled “Great Getaways.” featuring family travel and fishing opportunities.
Profiles of 14 vacation destinations provide vacation planners with tips on where to go, fishing available and where to stay.
Among the suggested activities are plunking along the lower Columbia River beaches, fishing for trout in mountain lakes near Mount Adams and fishing for smallmouth bass, walleye and other species between Crow Butte Park and McNary Dam on the Columbia River.
