Tee Anderson’s big game pushed the visiting Titans to a victory that earned them third place in the final Class 4A Greater St. Helens League girls basketball standings.
As a result, Union will host Battle Ground for a loser-out game at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Evergreen’s season ended with Wednesday’s loss.
Anderson scored 26 points for the Titans, 11 of them in the third quarter to quiet a Plainsmen push. Anderson hit three of her four 3-pointers in that period. Evergreen coach Jay Foreman said those baskets were key to taking momentum away from his team, which scored 19 third-quarter points but still trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter.
“Every time it looked like we were making another run, she hit a big shot,” Foreman said.
Morgan Broad added 11 points for Union (8-11, 5-5), which led 30-12 by halftime.
“(Anderson) was by far the most aggressive player on the floor,” Foreman said. “She broke our press and probably had double figures in rebounds.”
Vella Jackson led Evergreen (10-10, 3-7) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Triann Thompson added 10 points for the Plainsmen.
