Clark splits with Lower Columbia

One winning streak came to an end while another continued as the Clark College basketball teams split games Wednesday against rival Lower Columbia College in Longview.

Kaylea Knox scored 21 points to lead the Lower Columbia women to a 79-77 victory that snapped Clark’s 15-game winning streak, handing the Penguins their first loss in NWAACC West play this season.

Haley Grossman led five Clark players in double figures with 17 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Brooke Bowen and Shantell Jackson each scored 13 points, Taylor Howlett added 12 and Nicolette Bond scored 11.

Kaylea Knox was 6 of 9 from 3-point range for the Red Devils, scoring 21 points.

Collin Spickerman’s 29 points and 13 rebounds led the Clark men to a 73-64 victory over the Red Devils, extending the Penguins’ winning streak to 16 games.

Sean Price also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Clark, which dominated 51-25 on the glass.

Sherif Taha led Lower Columbia with 19 points.
