College notebook: Arn sets George Fox school record again in indoor pentathlon
Woodland grad breaks own mark in multi-events

George Fox University junior Charity Arn placed third in the women’s pentathlon at the Ed Jacoby Invitational and Multi-Events met held Friday and Saturday at Boise State University.
The Woodland High School graduate totaled 3,547 points in the five events, eclipsing her own mark of 3,407 set at the same Jackson Indoor Track facility in Nampa, Idaho, on Dec. 13, 2013.
Arn’s mark is third-highest this indoor season in all of NCAA Division III.
Arn placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.21 seconds (second all-time at GFU, ranking 27th nationally); third in the long jump with a 17 feet, 8 inches (tied for second at GFU, tied for 20th in the NCAA); third in the shot put with a mark of 36-61/4 (seventh at GFU); third in the 800 meter run at 2:28.66 (10th at GFU); and fifth in the high jump at 5-13/4 (tied for sixth at GFU.)
Shana Woods of Chula Vista Olympic Training Center won the pentathlon with a total of 4,051 points, with Karolin Anders of Alaska-Anchorage seconds at 3,774.
WWU honors Bragg
Western Washington University senior forward Austin Bragg was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
A former Clark College player from Longview, Bragg had 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Alaska-Anchorage, the first triple-double in GNAC play in more than 10 years.
Concordia’s Herman reaches scoring mark
Concordia University senior forward Adam Herman reached 2,000 career points for the Cavaliers last weekend.
Already the program’s career scoring leader, he is the first Cavalier player to reach that mark.
The Cavaliers (18-6, 7-5 Cascade Collegiate Conference) lost back-to-back games for just the second time this season, falling 84-79 on Friday at College of Idaho and 82-80 on Saturday at Eastern Oregon, but the Prairie High School graduate totaled 40 points in the two games to reach 2,054 for his career.
Herman leads the CCC with an average of 24.2 points a game.
Linfield’s Henson lights up Boxers
Linfield College junior Katelyn Henson scored 21 points of 8-of-17 shooting from the floor in an 87-69 home loss on Jan. 25 to Pacific of Oregon.
The Camas High School graduate was 7 of 12 shooting in the second half. She also had five rebounds and two steals in the game
An All-Northwest Conference Second Team selection as a sophomore, Henson is second on the team in scoring (11.3 points a game), rebounding (6.3 a game), assists (34) and steals (24) for the Wildcats (6-13, 2-8 NWC).
Clark County trio to compete Friday at SPU
Seattle Pacific University will play host Friday to Sacramento State in a women’s gymnastics meet Friday that will be a rare in-state appearance for the Hornets’ three Clark County products.
Kalliah McCartney of Vancouver, Dallas Smith of Heisson and Kayla Wonderly of La Center are all Sacramento State juniors and graduates of CAM High School in Battle Ground. The Hornets’ roster includes a total of five Washington gymnasts.
In the team’s most recent meet, a Friday loss at rival UC Davis, McCartney won the vault and was third in all-around; and Smith was second in the floor exercise. McCartney has scored 39-plus points in the all-around 15 times, one short of the program’s career record.
The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Brougham Pavilion.
