Girls basketball: Prairie 57, Columbia River 28

The Falcons wrapped up another outright league championship by beating the second-place Chieftains.

Big second and third quarters keyed the win. Visiting Prairie outscored Columbia River 16-6 in the second quarter to lead by 16 at halftime, then pushed the lead to 27 points by the end of the third quarter.

Three Falcons scored in double figures and Prairie (16-3, 9-0) hit eight 3-pointers to separate itself from Columbia River, which made only one 3-point shot. Nicole Goeche had 14 ppoints, Cherita Daugherty 12 and Emily Peters 11.

Columbia River (10-9, 6-3) can secure at least a share of second place in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League if it wins on Thursday at Fort Vancouver.
