Washougal made enough plays late to keep its hopes of making districts alive, while giving Hockinson’s league title hopes a boost.

Austin Tran went 8-for-8 at the free-throw line in the final period including four in the final minute of the game when Mark Morris needed to foul. Tran finished with 15 points.

The loss cut Mark Morris’ lead in the 2A Greater St. Helens League to a half game over Hockinson.

After an 0-4 start in league play, Washougal has won two in a row with two more games to play.

The win pushed the Panthers past Ridgefield into fourth place in the 2A GSHL and one game behind R.A. Long for the last berth to the district tournament. Washougal finishes the league season next Tuesday at home against R.A. Long.

Grant Gibb scored 19 points for Mark Morris in the loss.
