A team from Mountain View High School advanced to the championship round Saturday at the BPA Regional Science Bowl in Portland.

Mountain View Team 1, which fell in the 12th round, was one of five teams from four Clark County schools to take part in the 23rd annual competition sponsored by the Bonneville Power Administration.

It was the only local team to advance past preliminary rounds.

Other schools taking part from Clark County were Henrietta Lacks Health & Bioscience High School, Heritage High School and Union High School.

A team from Skyview High School had pulled out before the event.

More than 300 students from 72 high schools took part in the event. The top finishing team — Westview High School Team 1 from Beaverton, Ore. — won a chance to compete in the Department of Energy National Science Bowl.
