Washougal — Students in Rachel Webb’s childhood development class at Washougal High School got some real-world experience in promoting literacy as they visited Gause Elementary School.

The high school students read to the elementary pupils, and vice versa.

“I hope we made an impact on them and they will remember this experience so when they are in high school they will do this for younger students,” said WHS sophomore Hannah Couture.

Sophomore Sidney Childers added that she was impressed with the reading of her young friend: “He was so proud that he could read a big chapter book. I was amazed!”
