OLYMPIA — Tribal casinos in Washington will no longer cash welfare cards under an agreement with the state Gambling Commission.
The commission said Tuesday that 27 of the 29 federally recognized tribes in the state have agreed to amend gambling agreements to ensure that all cash dispensing and point-of-sale machines refuse electronic benefit cards. The cards are intended to help the needy buy food.
It’s one of several amendments the commission is recommending to the Legislature.
