PORT ANGELES — Many people like to take a “polar plunge” to celebrate New Year’s Day, but in Port Angeles they do it a little differently.

An organizer of the annual Polar Bear Dip, Dan Weldon, says over the years it’s developed into a triple dip. The hearty veterans run in and out three times.

The Peninsula Daily News reports about 100 people are expected to start the new year with an immersion in Port Angeles Harbor at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hollywood Beach.
