A career day for Lexi Burney helped Evergreen finish 2-2 in its Hoops on the Holiday girls basketball festival.

Burney had personal bests of 18 points and 15 rebounds, leading the Plainsmen to the win over Jefferson. Moriah Doyle added 14 points and Felicia Bahr had 11 for Evergreen.

The Plainsmen had 11 players in uniform for this one, and 10 reached the scoring column.

Burney had 12 of her points in the third quarter — all off of six offensive rebounds and put-back baskets.

Princess McNair led Jefferson with nine points.

A number of teams from Southwest Washington and Portland played at Evergreen High School over four of the past five days. Evergreen coach Jay Foreman said he received positive feedback about the format, which was just a schedule of games rather than bracket play. Teams knew ahead of time when they were playing and who they were facing.

Foreman said he expects to organize another Hoops on the Holiday event next season.
