Girls basketball: Columbia River 43, Rainier (Ore.) 32

The Chieftains used pressure defense to break open the game early and defeat Rainier, Ore., in the first round of the Vince Dulcich Tournament at Astoria, Ore.

Marion Lilly had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Columbia River (7-1), and Amara Moore came off the bench with tough defense and made five steals.

The Chieftains will next face Warrenton, Ore., in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Astoria.
