Gifford Pinchot forest gets new deputy supervisor

An Arizona native, Angela Elam, has been named deputy supervisor of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Elam has been district ranger of the Payson Ranger District on the Tonto National Forest in Arizona since June 2011.

She has a bachelor’s degree in forest management from Northern Arizona University and a masters degree in landscape architecture from the University of Arizona.

Elam began her career as a seasonal firefighter on the Mesa Ranger District of the Tonto National Forest. Other national forest assignments have included the White River National Forest, Colorado; Apache-Sitgreaves national forests, Arizona; Allegheny National Forest, Pennsylvania, and Ashley National Forest, Utah.
