Columbia River graduate dies in California crash

A Columbia River High School graduate who was an athlete for the Chieftains died early Friday in a vehicle collision, the school confirmed.

Connor Tarr, 26, died in a four-vehicle crash that was reported at 2:22 a.m. Friday on Interstate 5 near Los Banos, Calif., according to the Merced Sun-Star.

Two tractor-trailers and another vehicle were involved in the crash and one trailer rolled, according to the paper.

Tarr, who graduated from Columbia River in 2007, played on the soccer team as goalkeeper and was a running back for the football team. During his junior year, he was named second team all-league for both sports.

He completed basic training in 2008 and became a Navy Seaman Apprentice.

He is the son of Leslee Fonner and William Tarr, both of Vancouver. His sister, Kat Tarr, is a Portland Thorns player and an associate coach for the Clark College women’s soccer team.
