Southbound I-5 bridge reopened after potential jumper

Southbound traffic for Interstate 5 were closed briefly this morning while police responded to a possible jumper on the Interstate bridge.

Portland police were on scene with the pedestrian subject at about 10:50 a.m., according to emergency radio traffic monitored by the Columbian.

At the same time, Washington State Department of Transportation was preparing for a bridge lift, which hadn’t started yet when the incident was reported.

The bridge lift took place, however bridge lifts only affect portion of the bridge. The incident was resolved by 11:10 a.m., with a dispatcher reporting that “everything is OK.”
