The Skyview Storm withstood a fourth-quarter rally from Prairie and topped the Falcons 68-67 in overtime Tuesday night in a non-league boys basketball game.

Jason Chaney scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and secured the win with two free throws with 11 seconds left in overtime.

Chaney was scoreless in the first half.

“I wasn’t feeling confident,” Chaney said regarding the first half. “I had a turnover, and I sat on the bench.”

That feeling changed.

“In the second half, we lit a fire and we played good tonight,” Chaney said.

Chaney finished with a team-high 14 points. He made two 3-pointers. Daniel Thomas added 13 points for the Storm, and Marcus Lord scored 10.

Michael Stockbridge and Greg Bernash each had 16 for Prairie. Palmer Goecke made four 3-pointers for his 12 points.

The Falcons trailed by eight with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Bernash hit back-to-back inside shots, then Stockbridge connected on a 3-pointer to make it a one-point game.

Free throws by the Storm made it 61-56. Then Prairie scored four in a row, but there was confusion because the scoreboard showed 62-62. After a delay and a meeting with officials, the score was corrected to 61-60.

After a free throw by the Storm, Prairie’s last shot was answered when Bernash grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back to tie the game with 1.8 seconds remaining.

Tyrone Watson made his only shot of the second half/OT to give Skyview the lead for good. The Storm scored the first four points of the extra period. At 66-64, Chaney was clutch at the line to make it a four-point game.

A 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Falcons made it a one-point final.

Skyview improved to 3-2.

“We can be way better than we are right now, but it’s good to get this win,” Chaney said.
