Girls basketball: Prairie 62, Battle Ground 53

A strong first half carried visiting Prairie to a win over rival Battle Ground on Friday.

Emily Peters scored 12 of her 19 points in the first quarter, when the Falcons (3-1) outscored the Tigers 21-10.

Battle Ground (0-3) rallied to get as close as four points in the third quarter. The Tigers outscored the Falcons 20-12 during the third period, when Jossilyn Blackman scored seven of her 19 points. Alena Jarvis hit two 3-pointers in the period and Emily Griffith also had six in the third quarter.

Prairie had five players contribute to a balanced attack, four of them reaching double figures with Natalie Whitesal and Jozie Tangeman contributing 11 points and Cherita Daugherty scoring 10.
