Mike Pierce scored 19 of his team’s 21 second-quarter points, helping Kelso post a big lead, and Heritage’s rally in the fourth quarter came up short.
Pierce made five 3-pointers in the second quarter and finished the game with 27 points.
Kelso took a 20-point lead in the first half.
Heritage cut the deficit to eight points with two minutes to play.
“Really pleased with the fourth quarter,” Heritage coach Scott Preuninger said.
Payton Monda led Heritage with 16 points. Amel Mekic added 13. Kenese Peneueta had nine of his 12 points in the fourth quarter.
“At least we came up with something positive in the second half,” Preuninger said.
Heritage had eight players and was missing two starters — one to injury and another with a pre-excused absense.
