• Council for the Homeless is looking for overnight and morning shelter volunteers in its Winter Hospitality Overflow program. Greet guests, prepare and serve food, perform safety checks, collect bedding, and assist in waking guests.
• Gifts for Our Community seeks volunteer upholstery assistants at Devine Consign. Help with cupcake setup in the mornings is also needed, along with clean up and inventory at closing.
• Open House Ministries is looking for tutors to work with youth in after-school programs for an hour every week. Help is also needed in the thrift store and coffee shop, in the Wheels and Deals Bike Shop, and with computer assistance at the shelter.
The county commissioners seek to fill a position on the Animal Protection & Control Advisory Board for a two-year term beginning Feb. 1. • Truck driving or riding: 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday; no CDL license required. This position includes filling out donation slips and lifting 40- to 50-pound boxes.
• Sorting: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, sorting grocery produce for distribution. Training is provided.
• Reception: Four-hour shifts on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, filing, answering phones, greeting visitors and volunteers. Training is provided.
The city of Vancouver seeks to fill a vacancy on the Vancouver Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. The six-member volunteer board is appointed by the mayor to establish policy for the operation of various low-income rental assistance housing programs and home-ownership programs. Commissioners serve five-year terms.
