Boys basketball: Woodland 65, La Center 63

Ryan Sturdivan scored 18 points and Jake Rosenbalm added 12, including two big free throws to clinch a 65-63 non-league win for the Woodland boys basketball team over La Center.

The Beavers converted 18 of 20 free throws with Rosenbalm hitting a pair with 20 seconds left to give Woodland a 63-58 lead.

After La Center scored to cut the margin to 63-60, Ryan Sturdivan hit two more free throws for the Beavers.

“Anytime La Center and Woodland meet — I call it the Five-Mile March — you know it’s going to be a good one,” La Center coach Jon Schroeder said. “It was a fun game. It’s just too bad we ended up on the short end.”

Will Rice had 17 points to lead the Wildcats, while Chase Davidson and Brody Seter added 13 each.

Bryce Mulder had six points, seven rebounds and seven block for Woodland.
