Music honors

VANCOUVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Students from Vancouver Public Schools were selected for the National Association for Music Education’s 2015 All-Northwest high school honor groups and Washington Music Educators Association’s 2015 All-State honor groups.

Spencer Reid-Rice, a tenor from Skyview High School, was selected for the NAfME All-Northwest Mixed Choir.

These students were selected for the NAfME All-Northwest Orchestra: Jason Anderson, a violinist from Columbia River High School; Halie Borror, a violinist from Skyview High School; and Eva Stoumbos, a string bass player from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics

The WMEA All-State Symphonic Choir will include Lauren Clark, an alto from Fort Vancouver High School; Mason McCloud, a tenor from Skyview High School; and Nathan Harris, a bass from Skyview High School.

These students will join the WMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra: Caroline Brenner, a violinist from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics; Gabi Durose, a string bass player from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics; Rio Ishii, a string bass player from Columbia River High School; and Emily Liu, a violinist from Skyview High School.

Brent Hall, a violinist from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and Mya Howard, a cellist from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, were selected for the WMEA Junior All-State Orchestra.

From Discovery Middle School, French horn player Donald W. Higgins was named to the WMEA Junior All-State Rainier Band.

Students invited to join All-State and All-Northwest honor groups will perform at the NAfME 44th Biennial Northwest Division Conference this February in Spokane.

WASHOUGAL HIGH SCHOOL

Ten Washougal High School students have been selected for honor bands.

Riley Miller, a senior who plays the trombone and tuba, was selected for the All Northwest Honor Band, Pacific Lutheran University Honor Band and the North County Honor Band.

These students were named to the Pacific Lutheran University Honor Band and the North County Honor Band: Emma Boyle, a senior string bassist; Colton Gale, a senior trumpeter; Maddie Gregory, a senior clarinetist; and Nick Torres, a junior trumpeter.

Tess Russell, a senior oboist, was selected for the Pacific Lutheran University Honor Band.

These seniors were named to the North County Honor Band: Karina Miller, playing tenor saxophone; Patrick Neill, playing trombone; Vanessa Scheg, playing bass clarinet; and Monica Wilcox, playing clarinet.
