Three waste collection events starting next month will give Clark County residents a chance to safely dispose of their hazardous household waste and other items.

• The first event is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 13 in Red Lot 3 at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way in Vancouver. Document shredding will be available at Purple Lot 1, 1800 Fort Vancouver Way.

Additional waste collection events are scheduled for the same hours on:

Sept. 20 at the 99th Street Transit Center, 9700 N.E. Seventh Ave.

Oct. 4 at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St. in Battle Ground.

The Saturday collections are free to any Clark County resident.

The events will accept household waste such as pesticides, paints, solvents, thinners, motor oil and cleaners. Block foam, electronic equipment, scrap metal, woody yard debris and other items also will be accepted.

The collections are sponsored by Green Neighbors, a Clark County Environmental Services program. Green Neighbors hosted a series of six other waste collection events earlier this year.
