Vancouver — Immigration advocates will host a town hall meeting from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.

Immigrant workers, families and advocates are expected to attend the town hall to discuss what they perceive as the need for action by President Obama.

The meetings are part of a “National Day to Fight for Families,” which includes events across the country put on by a coalition of immigrant-rights advocacy groups.

“With Congress having failed to act on immigration reform, it’s now up to President Obama to provide relief for some of our most vulnerable residents,” said Rich Stolz, executive director of OneAmerica, the political group behind the Vancouver event. “We hope these town halls will show President Obama the issues immigrant workers and families in Washington state face under the current administrative policy and will take quick action to provide relief.”
