Friends of the Carpenter has many opportunities including: hospitality, Friendship Center host, kitchen coordinator, newsletter and mailing assistant, thrift store clerk, transportation provider and special event volunteers.

Inter-Faith Treasure House is looking for volunteers with a car or van to pick up food donations, and others to sort donations at the food bank.

Kaiser Permanente Hospice is looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with hospice patients during the last months of life. Help is needed in the community and in the Kaiser office.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center seeks volunteers in the emergency department, family birth center, inpatient surgery, ICU and CVICU, nursing units, physical therapy, heart and vascular, pharmacy, urgency care, wheel chair transportation, lobby information and reception, and in the gift shop.

School of Piano Technology for the Blind is looking for volunteers to drive technicians to appointments, help the technicians get situated, and fill out paperwork. Substitute drivers also are needed. Office help is also needed with phones, greeting and assisting students and customers, mail distribution and with an annual auction fundraiser.

• Clark County Connects seeks participants for the annual Clark County Day of Service on Sept. 13, to provide service to individuals and organizations throughout Clark County.

There will be a kickoff event for volunteers, 8 a.m. Sept. 13, at the Share Fromhold Service Center, 2306 Andresen Road, Vancouver. Volunteers are invited to bring food donations to benefit Clark County food banks.

• The Clark County commissioners seek to fill six positions on the 13-member Clark Communities Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The terms are for four years and will begin in November.

Applicants should have knowledge of or interest in walking and cycling-related issues and commit to preparing for and attending monthly meetings. Meetings are typically 6 to 8 p.m. on the fourth Tuesdays at the Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver.

People with these groups or backgrounds are encouraged to apply: Volksmarchers, Vancouver Bicycle Club, people dependent on transit and/or bicycles for transportation, bicycle commuters, recreational cyclists, students, neighborhood group members and people interested in mobility issues.
