Pioneer Street, the principal road connecting downtown Ridgefield with Interstate 5, has reopened to two-way traffic.

The road reopened Sunday, ahead of schedule, according to Clark Regional Wastewater District.

Pioneer and some side streets have been torn up in recent weeks as the wastewater district works on expanding its mains to serve a growing population.

The contractor and construction management team have worked 24 hours a day for the past week to complete the pipe work in Pioneer Street, according to a news release. The road is now paved and fully open to traffic and will remain open until final surfacing work later in September.
