Fircrest — More than 250 community members came out for the Eastside Community Picnic and National Night Out gathering, one of many similar events happening in the area on Aug. 5. Not only did neighbors from east Vancouver get a chance to have fun and break bread together, but they learned all about local crime prevention efforts and resources to better protect themselves. Other neighborhood associations held their own National Night Out events — dubbed “America’s Night Out Against Crime” — that evening as well. The event was organized by the Fircrest Neighborhood Association with help from the Countryside Woods Neighborhood Association.
