Dave Pelzer, a survivor of childhood abuse who has told his story in many books including the bestselling memoir, “A Child Called ‘It’,” will be the keynote speaker at the third annual Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation Cares Luncheon.
The event is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth Street. The luncheon will benefit the Child Abuse Assessment Team program at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.
The program is an entry point for resources for families with concerns of abuse or neglect. The team conducts assessments of children from birth to age 17 on behalf of law enforcement and social service agencies, and coordinates with other agencies to ensure children have the treatment and resources they need to heal.
Tickets are $40 per individual; group tables and sponsorships are available too. The Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation is trying to raise $1.2 million for the program.
