Battle Ground — Battle Ground was dubbed a “WellCity” for the 11th year in a row.

The city received the WellCity Award of Excellence from the Association of Washington Cities last month for the quality of its wellness program. In order to qualify as a WellCity, municipalities must meet minimum standards in nine categories, from activities to policies. Cities who receive a WellCity award qualify for reduced employee health coverage, which has saved Battle Ground around $24,800 over the past three years, according to a press release.

In a statement, City Manager John Williams lauded Deputy City Clerk Tamara Gunter for her job overseeing the city’s wellness program.

“Ms. Gunter’s efforts in providing wellness information and activities benefit the city as a whole as well as individual staff members.”
