College Notebook: GFU’s Arn, Turner each win pair of NWC titles

George Fox University junior Charity Arn was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Meet at the Northwest Conference Track and Field Championships held Friday and Saturday in Tacoma.

The Woodland High School graduate won the high jump and long jump conference titles, along with placing third in the 100-meter hurdles to claim All-NWC honors in those events. She previously finished second in the heptathlon at the April 14-15 conference multi-events championships.

Arn’s field marks were 5 feet, 3 1/4 inches in the high jump and 18-2 3/4 in the long jump. Her hurdles time was 14.84 seconds.

Also for the Bruins, senior Alyssa Turner won both the open 400 and the 400 hurdles.

The Hudson’s Bay High School graduate’s winning times were 58.89 seconds and 1 minute, 2.98 seconds.

CWU’s Galusha garners GNAC honorable mention

Central Washington University senior first baseman Maikala Galusha was named Honorable Mention All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Battle Ground High School graduate is batting .346 with 19 RBI for the Wildcats (27-16), who face Western Washington today in the GNAC tournament in Richland.
