The Union High School rugby team can wrap up a division championship with a win in its final game of the Rugby Oregon Varsity Premiership schedule on May 3.

Prairie 15, Lakeridge 15 — Ronnie Evenden scored on the last play of the match to earn the draw as both teams tallied three tries in Saturday’s match at Northgate Park in Portland. Eric Creamer and Jacob George had the other Prairie tries.

Tied for fourth place in the Varsity Premiership, Prairie (3-2-2) needs to beat Lincoln (also 3-2-2) on Saturday to qualify for the top bracket of the state tournament. Saturday’s match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Northgate Park.

Battle Ground 40, Canby 5 — Tries were scored by Ben Wheeler, Spencer Wolf, Jonathan Bryant, Mikhail Esse, Edward Tolokovoy, Chris Ison-Young and Arthur Chekhun in a 64-5 win for Battle Ground that was recorded as 40-5 under Oregon Rugby mercy rules.

The Bulls are tied with Prairie and Lakeridge for fourth place at 3-2-2. Battle Ground closes the regular season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Delta Park against Oregon City (3-4). Battle Ground tied Prairie and lost to Lakeridge earlier this season.

Clark County Red 49, Polk County 14 — The Warriors Red team improved to 7-0 atop the Rugby Oregon Club Championship Division. The actual score was 98-14, but the league caps official margins at 35 points. Michael DiGenova and Justin Straup each scored five tries.

Team captains Aubrey Wall and Brittany Reynolds were named players of the match. At 4-2-1, Battle Ground is in the top half of the 12-team Rugby Oregon High School Girls Division. Battle Ground closes the regular season by hosting Canby at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurin Middle School.
