Garden Club offering scholarships

The Community Garden Club of Camas-Washougal is awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the local community. The club supports furthering education in earth sciences and envirnomental stewardship, according to a press release.

Interested students may apply thorugh the club website at www.GardenClubOfCamasWashougal.org under the “scholarship” tab. The deadline for applications is Thursday.

Funding for scholarships comes from the club’s annual plant sale.

EWU releases dean’s list

Several local students have been named to the dean’s list at Eastern Washington University for winter quarter. To qualify, an undergraduate student must earn at least 12 graded credits and receive a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Students are: Aynur Altom, Christopher Bettis, Kyle Darland, Allyson Dunlap, Kristina Griffee, Danika Jones, Lauren Livick, Katie McDonald, Alison Owens, McKenna Paulsen, Hali Ramirez, Alisha Rich and Renee Valenter, of Camas; and Amanda Acheson, Nikala Cann and Danae Lentz of Washougal.

Library seeks volunteers

The Camas Public Library is now taking applications for volunteers to work during the Summer Reading Program. Adults and teens at least 13 years old will assist with signing participants up, logging reading times and issuing prizes. Volunteers must turn in an application by Monday, June 2, be able to quickly learn the online computer program the library uses to track progress, have an email address that is checked regularly, attend a 90-minute training, enjoy talking to kids and be punctual, friendly and enjoy reading. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of four hours per week for 10 weeks. The Summer Reading Program runs June 7 through Aug. 16.
