Bring on the sun! Warm and dry weather is on tap all week with a few possible record highs later in the week around the Northwest. The forecast for Vancouver on Thursday is 87 to 88 degrees; that will feel hot.
East winds will help push the mercury well above average for this time of the year; way out of the lower 60s, which is the norm. Even the coastal beaches will be in the 70s and perhaps 80 degrees here and there. I hear the surf calling!As mentioned here Sunday, things will cool off beginning Friday and through the weekend as high pressure slips eastward and a cool trough of low pressure parks itself off the coast. At this point it is difficult to predict if any rain will fall over the weekend but if it did it could be Sunday but mostly likely Monday. Stay tuned.There were some heavy downpours Sunday with hail and thunder. Freeways in some areas in Vancouver and Portland were deep with puddles. I drove through one and my wipers couldn’t even keep up. Very cold air aloft was upon us with snow in the mountains. The upper level cold air caused a small tornado in Eatonville.Early Sunday morning I had many reports of frost in the outlying areas. I recorded 34 degrees here in Salmon Creek. I don’t see any frost in the offing the next week at least.
