Evergreen Public Schools has hired John Steach as deputy superintendent. He will start work about July 1, and will be paid between $150,000 and $165,000 annually.

Steach has been the superintendent of the Canby (Ore.) School District since July 2011. Previously, he was executive director of support services and deputy superintendent/executive director of human resources with the Richland School District.

Steach will lead the district’s initiative to fully integrate technology into every classroom while enhancing student instruction.

He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, a master’s in business administration and a doctorate in educational leadership from Washington State University.

Evergreen Public Schools is the fifth-largest district in the state with nearly 27,000 students, and Clark County’s third largest employer, with 3,200 employees.
