Excelsior students envision glass greenhouse

Washougal — The outdoor garden space at Excelsior High School, while well-appointed with 10 spacious garden beds, doesn’t quite work out for spring crops.

Thanks to the weather, students who have been growing plenty of food donations for local food pantries and fellow students later in the year just can’t plant early enough to harvest all the crops they’d like to.

Their new idea, according to math and science teacher Jennifer Kennedy, is to raise funds for a fiberglass greenhouse in order to be able to “experience the end product of their work” and so local food pantries enjoy more bounty, too.

If you’re interested in helping out, contact Kennedy at 360-954-3300 or jennifer.kennedy@washougalsd.org
