o Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association seeks volunteers for the 50th annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands on May 17. Help is needed with registration, staging, banner and sign holding, walking along the route, preparing the TV area, security, direction control and bus and Little League helpers.

o Kiwanis Camp Wa-Ri-Ki is looking for a volunteer camp caretaker to promote the camp, monitor facilities for safety and security, greet groups of campers, maintain grounds and facilities, and work with the camp host and director.

o PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center seeks volunteers for a variety of duties in the gift shop.

Volunteer Connections will host a Speed Connections event from 10 to 11:15 a.m. April 30 at the Clark County Operations Division Conference Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver. Local nonprofit groups will explain their missions and what volunteer opportunities are available in informal round-table settings. The organizations participating include CDM, Clark County Food Bank, Evergreen Public Schools, Open House Ministries, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors, Vancouver School District and Catholic Community Services Volunteer Chore Program. o The Nutter Foundation in recruiting volunteers for Dozer Day 2014 which will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17 and 18 at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield.

Dozer Day is a family event that allows kids to operate dump trucks, dozers and excavators. The event will offer music, food, giveaways and activities. Proceeds benefit a host of local community groups and organizations.

Volunteers are needed to operate equipment (experienced, professional operators only), work with operators to help children on and off the machinery, monitor lines and assist with check in. The minimum age is 14, and volunteers will be pre-screened with a Washington State Patrol background check. Shifts are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and/or 12 to 5 p.m. May 17, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and/or 1 to 5 p.m. May 18.
