John McKibbin, a businessman who has served both as a Clark County commissioner and a state representative, has won appointment as president of Identity Clark County, a nonprofit business advocacy group.
McKibbin, founding chair of Identity Clark County more than 20 years ago, replaces Paul Montague, who recently left the position to form a political action committee to support pro-economic development political candidates.
McKibbin said in a statement that the business organization, funded by 60 investors, will work on issues of infrastructure, leadership and education.
“We also will revitalize the collaborative spirit among business leaders, organizations and government officials that has been central to our successes in the past,” he said.
McKibbin served three terms as a Clark County Commissioner and two in the Washington state House of Representatives. He was president and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, operated a government relations consultancy, and began his career as a teacher in the Vancouver school district. He serves on the Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation Board. An aviation enthusiast, McKibbin is active with Pearson Field Education Center. He and his wife Nancy have two children and two grandchildren.
