Hop to it at these Easter egg hunts

Something for all kids at variety of sites around Clark County

Kids, colorful eggs bursting with candy and new, green life shooting up across the county — spring is here, heralded once again by a host of weekend Easter egg hunts.

Adventurous types, if they have a fast car and good time-keeping skills, could even take the kids to several festive events. There are at least seven egg hunts Saturday and more Sunday.

And if you don’t want to travel far, don’t worry. With so many hunts there’s likely to be one nearby.

Ready to plan your agenda? Here’s a partial list of Clark County Easter egg hunts awaiting your arrival:

10 a.m. Saturday

Vancouver Farmers Market Easter Egg Hunt

o What: The Vancouver Farmers Market will host an Easter egg hunt for ages 12 and younger in Esther Short Park. The event includes treats, a visit from the Easter Bunny and a canned food drive for the Clark County Food Bank.

o When: 10 a.m. April 19.

o Where: Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St., Vancouver.

Battle Ground Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt

o What: The annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt will feature a variety of kids games, a petting zoo and a storyteller before the egg hunt begins at 10 a.m.

o When: 9 to 11 a.m., April 19.

o Where: Kiwanis Park, 422 S.W. Second Ave., Battle Ground.

John Ball Park Egg Hunt

o What: Activate Church will host a community hunt in John Ball Park with thousands of eggs hidden for children ages 12 and younger. The even includes face-painting, balloon animals, games and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

o Where: John Ball Park, 23rd Avenue and Kauffman Street, Vancouver.

La Center Lions Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt

o What: The La Center Lions will host its annual Easter breakfast and egg hunt at the Holley Park Community Center. Children ages 10 and younger can search for hundreds of eggs, visit the petting zoo or meet the Easter Bunny.

o When: 8 to 10 a.m. breakfast, 10 a.m. hunt, April 19.

o Where: Holley Park Community Center, 1000 E. Fourth St., La Center.

o Admission: $5 for breakfast, the hunt is free.

Hough Elementary Field Easter Egg Hunt

o What: Compass Church will host its annual community egg hunt featuring free popcorn, games and music. There will be two egg hunts divided by age. Second-graders and younger will begin at 11:30 a.m.; third- to fifth-graders start at noon.

o When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 19.

o Where: Hough Elementary, 1900 Daniels St., Vancouver.

Heron Gate Easter Egg Hunt

o What: The fifth annual egg hunt for ages 2 to 9 at the Heron Gate Office Building will feature live bunnies from the Royal Rabbits 4-H club, more than 4,000 hidden eggs with special prizes and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.

o When: 11 a.m. to noon, April 19.

o Where: Heron Gate, 2 S. 56th Place, Ridgefield.

East Woods Presbyterian Church Easter Egg Hunt

o What: East Woods Presbyterian Church will host a neighborhood Easter egg hunt for ages 11 and younger.

Vancouver Elks Easter Egg Hunt

o What: The Vancouver Elks #823 will host an Easter egg hunt with more than 2,000 eggs for age groups 3 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 11. The first 100 children will receive a goodie bag, and food will be available for purchase.

o When: Noon, April 19.

Saturday afternoon

Easter Egg Hunt for Acceptance

o What: An egg hunt open to all, designed for children with autism and special needs of any type, hosted by the nonprofit Autism Empowerment. The event includes a resource fair, appearances by Rojo the Llama, members of the Oregon Mermaids Association, Ramsey the Tortoise, activity tables, pinewood derby cars and more. The first hunt begins at 2:15 p.m.

o When: 1 to 4 p.m. April 19.

o Where: Evergreen High School’s McKenzie Stadium, 2205 N.E. 138th Ave., Vancouver.

Sunday

Crown Park Easter Day Hunt

o What: More than 10,000 candy- and prize-filled eggs will be hidden in age-appropriate hunting areas during the annual Camas Easter egg hunt. Children ages 2 to 12 should bring their own basket or bag for the hunt. Following the hunt, there will be a traditional Easter bonnet and contemporary hat contest.

o When: 1:30 p.m. April 20.
