The Clark County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of the man who died in a motorcycle crash Monday.
The initial investigation indicates that James Luden, 54, of Vancouver was driving a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Padden Parkway and had stopped shortly before 4 p.m. to wait for a left turn signal onto southbound Northeast 94th Avenue, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
A 2010 Mitsubishi Galant heading west on Padden Parkway struck the motorcycle from behind, propelling Luden into a 1972 Ford pickup that had also stopped to turn left, according to the sheriff’s office. Luden was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Galant, Tanya Leffler, 34, of Amboy was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released.
The driver of the pickup, Robert Kenck, 58, of Vancouver was not injured.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Duncan Hoss said Leffler was not cited or arrested but deputies are continuing their investigation.
The collision was one of two crashes involving motorcycles that occurred Monday in Clark County. The second was reported around 5:30 p.m. near Yacolt.
Lars Landsem 23, of Yacolt was driving a 2004 Honda CBR600 motorcycle east on Northeast Gabriel Road when he tried to pass a vehicle on a curve by crossing a double yellow line, according to the sheriff’s office.
A westbound 2005 Chevrolet Express van driven by Christopher Winchell, 38, of Hockinson collided with the motorcycle, ejecting Landsem on impact. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no citations have been issued.
Landsem was taken by Life Flight to an area hospital, where police said he was in stable condition Tuesday and undergoing surgery.
