o CDM Services is looking for people to volunteer in the Elder-Friends program, to reach out to and befriend isolated elders in our community.
o City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center is looking for garden and wetland volunteers to weed, cut stalks, plant and tidy the garden. Second Saturday and event volunteers are also needed to greet and orient patrons and assist with activities and demonstrations.
o Daybreak Youth Services is looking for auction assistants to help with sales, registration, set-up and tear-down, with most work done when standing.
o YMCA will have an open house for potential volunteers from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The session will provide information about its seven programs and the range of volunteer opportunities.
The city of Vancouver seeks to fill two positions on the Building-Fire Code Commission for six-year terms. The volunteer commission makes recommendations to the city council on building and fire codes and proposed code changes. It hears and resolves disputes for code interpretations and permit applications, investigates building code-, fire- and construction-related problems, and recommends uniform construction and fire-prevention regulations. Autism Empowerment seeks volunteers to fill eggs and bags for its Egg Hunt for Acceptance of All Abilities event. Volunteers are needed from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the ARC of Southwest Washington’s conference room, 6511 N.E. 18th St., Vancouver. Drop-in helpers are welcome. There is also a donation wish list: small plush or beanie items for babies and toddlers; prizes for egg hunters of all ages; unopened bags of wrapped Easter candy; plastic Easter eggs; motivational and acceptance items; donations for a silent auction; gift cards and cash.
