Vancouver’s resident commission on mayor and council salaries will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.

The meeting will be in the Birch Room on the second floor.

The five members of the commission were appointed by the mayor with approval from the council. The commission, established by the city charter, must recommend the elected officials’ salaries by May 1 for the 2015-16 budget planning cycle.

Salary reviews are performed every two years to coincide with the city’s budget cycle.

Thursday’s meeting, the commission’s second, will include time for public testimony. The salaries haven’t changed since 2008, as the commission didn’t increase the salaries in 2010 or 2012.

Mayor Tim Leavitt earns $2,200 a month, Mayor Pro Tempore Larry Smith gets $2,000 a month, and the rest of the council is paid $1,781 a month for their public service positions.
