The Seattle Mariners are hoping some Seahawks success rubs off.

The Seahawks played a prominent role in the opening day fesitivities Tuesday at Safeco Field.

Players and coaches paraded the Lombardi Trophy before fans before Russell Wilson threw out the first pitch. Judging by the thunderous ovation the quarterback received, Mariners fans don’t begrudge his stint at Texas Rangers spring training.

For a formerly famished region when it comes to sports championships, fans can’t get enough of the Seahawks.

Sidney Rice, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks in February, might land back in the Emerald City.

ESPN Carolina Panthers reporter David Newton wrote “no team other than Seattle remains interested in signing (Rice).”

This is significant because Carolina had been a team reportedly with interest in the 6-foot-4, 200 pound receiver.

The often-injured Rice was cut largely because he would have counted $7.3 million against next season’s salary cap. For a discounted rate, it could be worth taking a risk on Rice.
