April 15 is the deadline for high school artists to enter the Congressional Art Competition. The office of U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, is accepting entries for an art competition open to students in grades nine through 12, who either reside or attend school in Southwest Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.
The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The winning student artist and a guest also will receive airfare to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Second- and third-place entries will be displayed in Herrera Beutler’s office for one year.
Entries must be submitted electronically, by digital photo. To be eligible, the actual art must be framed and no larger than 28 inches high, 28 inches wide and 4 inches deep, with a maximum weight of 15 pounds. For details, call 360-695-6292. The annual Congressional Art Competition recognizes artwork from all 435 congressional districts in the nation.
