LEGISLATIVE PAGE PROGRAM

Kiana Rahni, a student at Union High School, served as a page in the state House of Representatives, sponsored by Rep. Monica Stonier. Kiana is the daughter of Mojgan Kasraei and Saeed Rahni of Vancouver.

Kathryn Saba, Kristen Saba and Michael Saba, all eighth-graders at River HomeLink, recently spent one week working as pages in the state Senate, sponsored by Sen. Don Benton. Kathryn, Kristen and Michael are triplets, and the children of Richard and Karen Saba of Brush Prairie.

Elisa Wohler, a student at River HomeLink, recently completed a one-week page assignment in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Paul Harris.

In the page program, students are given the opportunity to learn about parliamentary procedures and state government. They attend page school, deliver mail and run errands around the Capitol, and present the flag. Pages may also draft a bill and engage in a mock session.

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Students from Battle Ground-area high schools have been named winners of General Federation of Women’s Clubs scholarships. The scholarships are made possible by the club’s primary fundraiser, the Ladybug Bazaar, held each November in Battle Ground. The recipients are Taylor Nienaber, Prairie High School, first place; Taylor Beardall, Battle Ground High School, second place; Lindsey Barton, Prairie High School, and Heather Young, CAM High School, third place.
