Clark County rugby club rolls to win

Brock Busch scored three tries, two on runs of more than 50 meters, as the Clark County Warriors Red defeated West Linn 45-8 on Saturday in a Rugby Oregon match between nationally ranked high school clubs at Skyridge Middle School.

Justin Straup scored two tries, and Jesse Kiesser had a try and two conversion kicks for Clark County Red, which improved to 4-0 in the division for high school clubs that draw players from more than one high school. Also scoring tries were Blake Ingram and John Ashford. Izaak Heredia added three conversion kicks.

Clark County Red plays at North Albany Middle School at 3:30 p.m. April 12 against Linn Benton. Eastside, the other 4-0 club, visits Skyridge Middle School on April 19 to take on Clark County Red.

Clark County’s developmental team, the Warriors Black, lost 42-5 to visiting Polk County. James Schilling scored the try for Clark County Black.

Varsity Premiership — In the Oregon Rugby league for teams representing one high school, Reynolds beat Union 29-25 on Saturday. No details were reported.

On April 12, Union faces Prairie at 12:30 p.m. at Laurin Middle School and Battle Ground visits Central Catholic.

Girls rugby — Grant of Portland beat Battle Ground 40-5 on Saturday at Delta Park. Battle Ground will host West Linn at 11 a.m. April 12 at Laurin Middle School.
