Camas edges King’s Way in lacrosse

A late rally lifted Camas to a 10-9 win over King’s Way on April 2 in Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association action at Camas High School.

Bryce Tabbut scored five goals to lead Camas, which scored three times on a three-minute man advantage to earn the victory in its first league match of the season.

Camas goalie Hudson Fox made some saves late in the match, and defenseman Cannon Burchette had a key takeaway to protect the lead.

Zach Quist scored twice for Camas, which also got goals from Austin Garwood, Gage Garrett and Bradley Stanchfield. Garwood collected 14 ground balls.

Evan Ramirez scored three times for King’s Way, which is 1-1 in the Division II Central-South Division. Brian Prigmore, Mikey Johnson and Nathan Swift each had two goals.

Camas (5-3 overall) lost a pair of non-league games over the weekend, falling 15-2 to Eastlake on Saturday and losing 15-10 on Sunday at Oregon City. Camas is idle until April 18.

In non-league play, King’s Way lost 13-6 on Friday to visiting Eastlake, then on Sunday defeated Liberty of Beaverton 12-5. King’s Way plays three times this week, visiting Clackamas on Thursday then hosting Richland at 7 p.m. Friday and Tualatin, Ore., at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Union boys lacrosse team (2-2, 0-1) is idle until April 15.

Girls lacrosse — Alyssa Mehan had three goals and one assist and Madeline McKinnon scored twice on Thursday for Evergreen Lacrosse Club in a 12-7 loss at Gig Harbor. ELC (2-3) is idle until April 15, when Bellarmine Prep visits McKenzie Stadium.
