Concordia University senior Adam Herman garnered All-America recognition from the NAIA national office, as well as from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The Prairie High School graduate was also earlier named Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and was selected to play in the NAIA All-Star Game played March 23 in Kansas City, Mo.
Herman averaged 24.5 points and 5.8 rebounds a game while leading the Cavaliers to their first appearance at the NAIA Division II National Championships in more than a decade. He closed out his career with a school record 2,257 points — the only Cavalier to score at least 2,000 points.
Herman was one of 10 student-athletes selected for each of the two All-America honor lists.
Herman, a third-team NAIA All-America selection as a junior, also established school records with 275 made free throws and 735 total free throws.
Despite the high scoring volume, Herman was annually one of the most efficient players in the NAIA, finishing with a career field goal percentage of .630 which stands second all-time at Concordia. Herman closed out his career third in school history with 793 rebounds.
Herman scored 12 points for the Division II team in a 120-107 loss to the NAIA Division I stars late last month. He was 4 of 8 shooting from the floor, and also had two rebounds and a steal.

La Verne’s Myers named all-conference
University of La Verne sophomore center Emily Myers was named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team
The Heritage High School graduate averaged 12.4 points and seven rebounds a game this season and filled a big hole in the front court for the Leopards.
“I think Emily may have surprised herself,” coach Julie Shaw told the website www.leopardathletics.com. “But she didn’t surprise us, because we knew that she had the ability to be an all-conference player. The minutes opened up at her position and she did amazingly with those minutes.”
Myers posted five double-doubles.
“She still has a lot of room to grow and I’m excited to see what she will do in the coming years,” Shaw told the website.

Washington nears Concordia record
Concordia University senior Andre Washington shaved 0.18 seconds off his personal best in the 200 dash Saturday at the Willamette Invitational in Salem.
The Hudson’s Bay High School graduate placed second with a time of 22.02 seconds. The Concordia school record is 21.96 seconds, set in 2006 by Michael Lay.

Arn wins long jump at Westmont meet
George Fox University junior Charity Arn won the long jump competition Saturday at the Westmont College Classic in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The Woodland High School graduate’s mark of 18 feet, 1 3/4 inches ranks fourth this season in NCAA Division III and leads the Northwest Conference. She also placed third in the 100 hurdles (15.01) and was eighth in the 200 meters (27.19).
n Bruins senior Alyssa Turner, a Hudson’s Bay High School graduate, was third in the 400 hurdles (1:02.03) and helped the 1,600 relay team to a second-place finish in 3:56.99, second best in NCAA-III and tops in the NWC.
